Lockdown week 2

I suppose that week 2 really that starts on Tuesday, but I am running Monday to Monday – assuming I remember what day of the week it is!

Haven’t we been fortunate with the weather?  Dry, sunny and warm last week and still dry and sometimes sunny this week even if it is colder.  Still able to hang the washing out, so no wet washing hanging around – always a bit depressing.  I am sorry for those who don’t have a garden to hang it in.

Sad when one has nothing better to do than take pictures of one's washing!

It is also good to have darker mornings and lighter evenings – sleep longer, do things outside longer.  Mind you, my body is still not quite sorted on the time.  Monday I didn’t finally wake up until 8.45!  Decided to start with breakfast before the bath, then went up to have the bath and found it dirty from bits blown in the window the previous day.  I ran water to rinse it and found it didn’t run away.  I was aware that I needed to remove hair from the plug (a push down in the middle one) so set about doing so – really needed doing and fairly disgusting, so I was glad I had already had breakfast.  It was a job on my “to do” list.  It was only after I had finished the job that I realised the water wouldn’t run away because the plug was (pushed down) in….doh..!

The internet speed is very slow but I am getting used to waiting.  I have a book – “Women in Science” – which has double pages on each woman and it is all in short bits, so I am reading this while I wait.  It is interesting as I have only heard of maybe 20% of the women.

The reading as I wait works, except on the days when it is very, very slow and then I sometimes just have to give up.  I have given up even trying to watch videos – it is just a waste of time.  Fortunately the Future Learn courses have a transcript so I can read that instead of watching the videos.

Have also finished the jigsaw.  I thought I had lost a piece – big panic as it was a borrowed jigsaw – but after crawling all over the floor I found it under the sofa cushion where I sort the pieces – phew!  I had wondered why I hadn’t been able to find the piece for that place….

No worries about what to do either – I have 5 more 1000 piece jigsaws to do.

A few weeks ago I planted some “Speedy veg leaf salad, spicy Oriental mix” in my window trough (inside).  The seed is not new and very small so I planted it quite thickly and it came up very nicely.

I have thinned it out this week, eating the thinnings that were big enough in a salad.  Now I can help myself when there is enough to make it worthwhile.  Some of it is quite spicy, too.

What else this week?  Skipping has got worse – best is 45 and average around 10 to 20 if one includes the ones and threes etc.  Finished the Future Learn Course – the last week was not very interesting.  Done a bit more tidying in the garden.  Made lots of phone calls.  Went shopping twice.  Joined the housegroup “hangout” on Thursday, by telephone – bit chaotic!  Did basic cleaning and cleaned inside of kitchen windows.

Other people have just about coped – some well, some less so.  There has been walking from people who don’t usually; one friend did an online “Write a short story in a week” course; another has been helping repair an old Landover (when not working) – a job that never ends; the new roof is on the ferret house and the outside repaired; but one friend sneezed and has hurt her back!

What exciting lives we lead at the moment!  Let us see what next week brings….
