Lockdown – Week 4

Monday of week 4 was very frustrating as, for some reason I don’t understand, I couldn’t edit anything in my blog so couldn’t get last week’s post published! So I turned back to my jigsaw (Red Square in Moscow) and having started on the sky I had difficulty getting anywhere with it. Pieces are similar colours and seem to fit but not quite so I am never quite sure if they are right or not……

Too muuch sky…

Monday was good in another way though as I was able to listen to/watch both the Good Friday Reflection and the Easter Sunday service from our church. Bit late but good to catch up and I enjoyed the multiple Easter acclamations!

Tuesday was an improvement! My nephew sorted the blog (thank you!), but it is updated and I am having problems working out how to use it. When I finished and came to publish last week’s post it seemed to think that it was the 12th not the 14th so I had no idea when it would actually be published…..

But…. I also went shopping on Tuesday and had a really good day – rice and spaghetti and tins of tomatoes – so I am well stocked up for a while.

Wednesday and Thursday were mostly spent on the computer doing various things or making phone calls. There was also “the walk”, which I have been taking round the streets. At the moment I am tending to walk rather than skip as the weather is very pleasant and it is nice to go outside. Many of the gardens are very boring – either a hard surface for cars or nothing much to see. There are a few good ones though and one excellent one, full of colour. There are also some excellent crops of dandelions……

When I went out to “clap for the NHS” on Thursday most of the neighbours were out as well – I suspect because everyone was curious about the police car that had arrived shortly before – clearing out a group of youngsters who were having a BBQ up in the woods. It is our bit of excitement and blue flashing lights make a change!

God started watering my garden on Friday – which saved me a job for a day or two and is always more efficient than when I do it. I took my walk in the morning by doing the long route to Tesco Express, which is a bit short for a walk but better than nothing and I needed milk and a few other things. There were no bananas!!! And yes, I did get a bit wet but there was no queue.

The rest of Friday and Saturday and Sunday were spent much as Tuesday and Wednesday – making phone calls, doing things on the computer, doing a bit of calligraphy, doing a bit of jigsaw (very slow progress!), going for walks, as well as the usual domestic stuff like washing, ironing, standard cooking…….

So what else this week? I have been enjoying the Easter egg that a friend gave me as thanks for a few things I have got for her.

I also actually wrote a letter – yup, “snail mail”! I think the post isn’t actually being delivered every day though, as an Easter card posted on the 8th arrived on the 16th.

I joined the “hang outs” for our housegroup on Thursday evening and Sunday morning – by phone. I also managed to watch/listen to the Sunday morning service (with only a few long pauses while it caught up) starting only about 6 minutes after the service started. The birds singing during sermons is a bit distracting but lovely when one gets used to it.

And I read a book!

And what have others been doing? The ferret run has come to a bit of a pause as the wood and paint have run out. There has been some cooking – one person made cheese scones (wish I lived close enough for her to have left some on my doorstep) and also a vegetarian bolognaise sauce – enough to freeze some portions. Someone else made and ate banana bread – none left for me. There also seems to have been quite a lot of tidying and sorting in various houses. One person said it was a mistake – he can no longer find anything!

Have you noticed how many families have been going out for walks or cycle rides together? And the last 2 weeks seems to have been the time to clean cars!

So with another 3 weeks at least to go, we move onto week 5……
