Three visits to the theatre in two weeks

And what is more two of those were to see poets – and poetry is not really “my thing”!

Lemn Sissay was really amusing with anecdotes about his life and pretending he would sue anyone who used his poems in public! He performed 3 of his longer poems, one of which I thought was really good and thought provoking, the second I couldn’t tune into and the third I was not sure about – was there more to it than the surface appearance? I thought there could be but my friend thought not – and they know about poetry. There was also one of his recent short ones which he got us singing!

Jenny Eclair was very funny. It was her life story with (some) photos, but was very relatable to “women of a certain age”! We decided she was 8 years younger than me and 8 years older than my friend. The only problem was there was far too much swearing for my taste.

Roger McGough was also amusing. He mostly read his poems, but they were fun. He did have a bit of a tendency to drop his voice at the end of his sentences so (with my hearing) I lost some bits, but not too much.

So? Three very enjoyable evenings – but I can’t find anything else I want to go to see in the next theatre programme.
