Feed a different cat

But this one hates me. And he is a 15 minute walk away, not just 5 minutes. Mind you Rollo hates everyone, except his personal slave (owner) and even hisses at them sometimes!

I find him amusing though, so was prepared to do the walk there and back on 3 days to give him his evening feed and shut him in. Being grey he is not allowed out at night – much to his disgust. (Someone else was doing his morning feed.)

He is very vocal and everyday told me when I arrived, how starving he was. On the first day, after he had eaten as much as he wanted, he gave a short meow – which could have been “thank you”, but was much more likely to mean “go away”. He then went upstairs and hid under the bed while I was dealing with litter trays and checking his water!

The second day was dry and still sunny and after he had eaten he hung around meowing and let me stroke him – unheard of! I might have guessed he wanted something and wasn’t just being friendly. Yup – he wanted to go out again and thought he could slip out when I was going out – which he managed. However, that was only into a small hall and he stopped to look out of his cat flap, to see if it was safe to go out, so I had time to grab him and put him back and shut the door. He continued to complain loudly – which I could hear through the door – as I dealt with the litter tray in the loo that goes off the hall. He was still complaining when I left!

The third day was again grey and after eating he went straight upstairs and hid under the bed and wouldn’t have anything to do with me – once he had got his food!

So? Don’t be fooled, if a cat is being nice or friendly you can be certain it wants something…..
