How to spend a birthday

Well, how I spent mine, really! Started by going to the gym – it was my normal day to do so….

After lunch I went to the local garden centre café for coffee/tea and cake. I had invited 12 people but five were not able to come for various reasons. That made eight of us, which meant we fitted on to two neighbouring tables for four without any problem.

Little cakes and a pot of tea for one!

I got eight of the little cakes so that there was one for everyone – although some people said it was too soon after lunch and didn’t want one. That gave a couple of people two cakes! A pleasant afternoon of friendship and chat.

I had tried to book tickets for a comedy show at the theatre as my treat for me, but it was fully booked – although they put me on the reserve list as number two!

The day after my birthday the theatre phoned and said they had a couple of returned tickets and did I still want them? I did, so collected them the next day and two days later a friend and I went to see Alfie Moore – he is someone I have enjoyed on the radio. We had a good time and laughed quite a lot – only one set of jokes we didn’t like, which isn’t bad. A good evening!

So? A good birthday and I got my treat for me a few days later, as well!
