Have a bit of a clear-out

I needed more space for new books and for keeping other things, so decided I had better have a bit of a clear-out to make room.

I started with some of my clothes drawers. A few things to go (mostly for the charity shop “rags” bag) but some I am still considering.

Then it was onto the books. Some I just decided could go but others I will have to read to see if I still want to keep them! Three read so far – one to keep and two to go.

Start of the third pile for the charity shop – two loads have already gone.

The desk was the next stop – two years of birthday cards and postcards have been put for re-cycling. I looked at lots of old photos and quite a lot have gone, as have the cardboard frames for the school photos (but not the photos themselves) of nieces and nephews. Old letters have been sorted and some disposed of. I was surprised to find that I do have at least one letter from both nephews and from one great-nephew – I am still waiting for a letter from the other great-nephew! Letters do exist from all nieces and great-nieces – quite a lot from some of them. I have kept all these rare and precious documents!! One doesn’t keep emails in the same way and nephews and nieces do tend to use email nowadays….

Some rubbish for re-cycling

The top part of the desk and the letter rack were the next to be sorted. Lots of paper to throw away!

More rubbish…

So? What next? Maybe the filing cabinet or the pile on the chest of drawers?

P.S. In the end 4 loads for the charity shop and about half a blue bin of recycling, with about 4 cardboard folders emptied and removed from the filing cabinet!
