No longer redundant!

I have got my “job” back at the Trussell Trust!  It is not quite the same, as the paid receptionist is still there, but I am doing the reception to give her time to really get on with the administration work that she has to do.   I go in later and will also leave earlier – the latter because I want to.  I also don’t have to do anything except the reception, so I can take my book in to read if I want to.

I got the phone call asking me if I would like to do it last week and this week was my first time back.  Some people seemed glad to see me or at least were welcoming.  There seem to be more staff, who I will have to get to know for their names, roles and extension numbers, in case there are phone calls for them.  There also seem to be a lot more volunteers.  There used to be 4 or 5 on a Monday morning, but there seemed to be about 9 or 10 this week.  As they arrive before me, I won’t see them sign in, so might not get to know them.

It took me a while to get back into the routine of working the phones and remembering who people had to get passed on to, but I expect I will be OK.  I do like the variety of people that I meet.

So is this good!  Yes, I think so……
